Alexis McCollum, MD

Alexis McCollum, M.D., is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist affiliated with Willow Creek Women’s Clinic. Dr. McCollum earned her medical degree from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, and then completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency there as well.

While much of her work is focused around the delivery of babies and recovery, Dr. McCollum sees patients from the age of puberty up. She treats routine and complex obstetric and gynecologic conditions. Additional areas of interest include both high risk and low intervention obstetrical care; minimally invasive gynecologic surgery; evaluation and treatment of endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, vulvar problems, fibroids, and pelvic pain; evaluation and treatment of infertility; contraception and family planning; cancer screening, STD testing and treatment; and genetic testing.

From a young age, Dr. McCollum was very goal and task oriented, enjoyed science and set her sights on working in the medical field. She thought at that time that she wanted to be a veterinarian. But after discovering she was “deathly afraid of snakes” decided that was not the right field for her. Upon attending medical school, she thought initially she wanted to be a pediatrician but this changed during her third year rotation, when she found her calling in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. McCollum says the most important thing she can offer her patients is education. She is a big proponent of women having autonomy over their own healthcare, which is she strives to help women arrive at the best decisions for themselves. Outside of work, Dr. McCollum enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband have two daughters.

Professional affiliations include the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and EMPower Breastfeeding Collaborative.
